With the final instalment of the ‘Fifty Shades’ trilogy premiering in cinemas worldwide next week, we thought we’d take a look at the soundtracks which have complimented the franchise over the years. From Ellie Goulding to Taylor Swift to even Beyoncé, we just don’t know where to begin!

Let’s take a look at the one that started it all, shall we?

Fifty Shades Of Grey (2015)

After the erotic novel became a best-seller worldwide and sold 125 million copies as of June 2015, Universal Pictures and Focus Features decided to produce a film adaptation and begin, what would be, a trilogy of movies based on the book series.

However, it is the soundtracks we are looking at so without further ado, let’s look back at the ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ soundtrack:

Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do

Undoubtedly one of the most successful singles within the ‘Fifty Shades’ trilogy, to date. Not only was this a big single for ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’, it was also a big single for Ellie Goulding. Coming in at 1.6 billion views as of the date of this article, it is one of her most viewed music videos on her VEVO channel. The single topped the charts, debuting at number 1 in the UK as well as other European countries. It would lead to even bigger things for Ellie Goulding as she also landed the lead single for the ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby‘ soundtrack later that year with, ‘Still Falling For You‘.

The Weeknd – Earned It

Released as the lead single for ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’, we have The Weeknd with ‘Earned It’. Following the suit of Ellie Goulding, this was also a huge single for The Weeknd and only added to the list of his chart-topping singles.

The single was the start of what to expect from The Weeknd in 2015 as the singles which followed, ‘The Hills‘ and ‘Can’t Feel My Face‘, have become a staple of his career. ‘Earned It’ is certified 5x platinum in the US, selling 2,110,000 units as of the date of this article. Pretty impressive, so far.

Beyoncé – Crazy In Love (Remix)

Queen Bey really outdid herself on this one, she didn’t even have to produce a new song. ‘Crazy In Love’ was remixed through a different arrangement to set a ‘Fifty Shades’ tone throughout the song, this was for sure made to be included in the ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ soundtrack. Despite the original version of the single being released in 2003, this didn’t stop the remix from topping charts worldwide, giving ‘Crazy In Love’ a whole new meaning.

Fifty Shades Darker (2017)

Next, we have the 2017 follow-up, ‘Fifty Shades Darker’. The soundtrack to this sequel was jam packed with incredible songs from the likes of Tove Lo to Corinne Bailey Rae. Let’s look further into this soundtrack, shall we?

Halsey – Not Afraid Anymore

At the height of her career, Halsey wrote a track for the ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ soundtrack titled, ‘Not Afraid Anymore’. It was released as an instant grat for the soundtrack’s pre-order. ‘Not Afraid Anymore’ peaked at number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100 and introduced Halsey to fans of the movie.

ZAYN, Taylor Swift – I Don’t Wanna Live Forever

Released as the first single for ‘Fifty Shades Darker’, we saw Taylor Swift return to the charts, assisted by ZAYN. ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ charted worldwide, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of ZAYN’s most successful singles to date.

Sia – Helium

No movie soundtrack is complete without some kind of input from Sia, is it? Although never released as a single, ‘Helium’ did debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 74 and received moderate airplay. Most recently, David Guetta & Afrojack have remixed ‘Helium’ in promotion of Sia’s ‘Viva Glam’ MAC Collection.

You can check out the remix of ‘Helium’ below:

Fifty Shades Freed (2018)

Although neither the soundtrack or film have been officially released yet, we have three songs which have been released from the ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ soundtrack in anticipation for the official release on 9th February 2018:

Liam Payne & Rita Ora – For You

If there were two artists to start off 2018 with a duet for ‘Fifty Shades Freed’, it would be Liam Payne and Rita Ora. Following up from their individual success in 2017, ‘For You’ has so far charted worldwide and is just peaking outside of the top 10 in the United Kingdom. However, as soon as the movie hits cinemas worldwide, we can only expect this single to only get bigger and become even more successful for the pair.

Julia Michaels – Heaven

Singer-songwriter Julia Michaels is the latest artist to be included on a ‘Fifty Shades’ soundtrack, with her seductive ode, ‘Heaven’. We love it that much, we think it should be the next single!

Although only released as an instant grat, we have high hopes for this song and can only wish it will be a success for Michaels as 2018 is her year to shine as a music artist.

Haliee Steinfield & BloodPop – Capital Letters

Last, but definitely not least, we have Hailee Steinfield alongside BloodPop with their pop banger, ‘Capital Letters’. It was not only written by Ellie Goulding but also written by none other than RAYE, who has quite an impressive resume when it comes to song writing.

Also, with BloodPop producing this track, you pretty much already know it’s going to be a banger. All in all, with two great songwriters, an incredible producer and a pop female vocalist on a track, you can’t really go wrong with this one.
